You will develop a deeper understanding of mathematical concepts and explore their application to a range of real-life problems. The course covers basic mathematical techniques such as problem solving, mathematical modelling and proof. Much of the course is pure mathematics, developing the techniques required to solve a problem once it has been expressed in mathematical terms, including algebra, trigonometry, geometry and calculus. You will also study some mechanics, which involves setting up mathematical models (equations) to predict the behaviours of objects acted upon by forces; and statistics which involves analysing experimental or survey data and making decisions based on that analysis.
Five GCSEs at grade 9-4 including English Language and grade 7 or above in Maths. You will need strong algebra skills and you will be assessed in your first week. This course is for school leavers. If you are over 18, please contact our Admissions Team to see if it is possible to study A Levels.
This course is assessed by written exams.
