Course summary

In today's digital age, IT underpins nearly every aspect of our lives, from business operations to personal communication. This qualification provides a solid foundation for those looking to pursue a career in IT or enhance their existing skill set. It does not matter what you do after Sixth Form or what other subjects you study, this course will equip you with the expertise needed to excel in the digital realm. This course comprises three mandatory and one optional unit. The first mandatory unit Unit 1 - Information Technology Systems, is a theory unit assessed by a written examination. The second mandatory unit, Unit 2 - Creating Systems to Manage Information, is a practical unit that is assessed by a set task completed in a given time period. The final mandatory unit, Unit 3 - Using Social Media in Business, is a mixture of theory and practical and is assessed by the completion of coursework. The optional unit, Unit 6 - Website Development, is where students will get to explore and build websites, again providing evidence as coursework. Evidence for coursework is recorded in a variety of ways including podcasts, videos, multimedia products, web pages, reports, observations, witness statements, and interactive presentations. Each unit is linked to specific topics and audiences.

Entry requirements

24 points or more, a Level 2 Pass on IT (if studied at KS4), are needed to study this program.
