Course summary

A critical approach to the consideration of moral and philosophical issues. Students study the theories of philosophers such as Plato, Socrates, Aristotle and Aquinas as well as contemporary discourse from Bertrand Russell and Richard Dawkins. The course is split into three papers which are: Unit 1: A Study of Christianity - 33.5% of A-level Unit 2: Philosophy of religion - 33.5% of A-level Unit 3: Religion and ethics - 33.5% of A-level.

Entry requirements

To gain entry into the Taverham Sixth Form for A-level studies, you will need six Grade 4s or above in your GCSEs which must include GCSE English Language and Maths. In a subject that you have taken at GCSE and wish to continue, Grade 5 is recommended in that subject. Attitude to learning and attendance at GCSE will be taken into account when looking at progression within a subject. In essay-based subjects, we strongly recommend a Grade 5 in English. In science-based subjects, we strongly recommend a Grade 5 in maths.
