Course summary

Chemists will have the knowledge, skills and desire to understand and question the world around them. Chemistry is the scientific study of the interaction of chemical substances and phenomena. Chemistry is often called “the central science” because it connects the other natural sciences such as Astronomy, Physics, Material Science, Biology, and Geology. If you enjoyed chemistry at GCSE, you will thrive within the A Level course. In two years you will gain in-depth knowledge of this fascinating subject, preparing you for further education or giving you the credentials to enhance your job options straight away. Chemists have greatly improved the quality of life for the majority of people through work on materials, medicines and sustainable resources. The course is very practical in nature and looks at real-life applications and ‘How Science Works’. Studying chemistry allows learners to develop a wide range of transferable skills, such as investigating, deducing facts and working effectively in teams.
