A Level Psychology is the scientific study of mind and behaviour. This course will develop your understanding of the possible explanations for behaviour including, biological, psychological and social factors. It enables you to appreciate the benefits of being able to explain, predict and control behaviour. Paper 1: Introductory Topics in Psychology • Social influence • Memory • Attachment • Psychopathology Paper 2: Psychology in Context • Approaches • Biopsychology • Research methods Paper 3: Issues and Options in Psychology • Issues and debates • Relationships • Schizophrenia • Addiction
Five subjects at grade 4 or above including English and Maths. Strengths in maths and biology are desirable.
You will be assessed by sitting external exams at the end of the two year course. There are three 2 hour exams.
