For those students with a creative eye who want to apply their skills in the exciting world of fashion or textiles, this course will inspire and allow them to pursue a career in the ever-changing fashion industry. Throughout the course students will develop manufacturing skills and study various aspects of fashion design, including surface decoration techniques, trends and pattern adaptation, along with ideas and concepts that underpin fashion design as an art. This allows students to develop their own creativity and produce high quality, innovative and original garments and textile products. Independence, analysis and evaluation are key elements to success on the course; skills which will allow students to develop expertise in new and exciting directions.
- Grade 4 in GCSE Textiles or a relevant GCSE Art subject is an advantage. If students have not taken a GCSE Art/Textiles subject, then a portfolio of work will be considered. - 5 x GCSE 9-4 BTEC/CTEC
Unit 4 – Materials, Techniques and Processes in Art and Design = 25% Unit 5 – Developing an Art and Design Portfolio = 25% Unit 7- Developing and Realising Creative Intentions = 33% Unit 14 – Textile Materials, Techniques and Processes = 17%
