In BTEC Level 3 National Certificate in Performing Arts, students will work practically in lessons developing their understanding of a broad range of theatre styles and practitioners; working collaboratively and independently. Students will need to be able to present ideas and negotiate their way through several performance styles in order to create a range of performances. Modules titles and codes: Unit 1- Investigating Practitioners’ Work. Unit 2- Developing Skills and Techniques for Live Performance. Unit 3: Group Performance Workshop Unit 19: Acting Styles
Grade 5 in GCSE in English Literature and/or Language There is no requirement to have studied GCSE Drama, but it is expected that those who have should gain at least a grade 5 in GCSE Drama.
Lessons will be practical based with a focus on the development, and application, of a range of performance skills. Students will be expected to attend rehearsals outside of lessons and there will be the need to attend live performances when possible (seeing theatre accounts for part of the wider reading). Lessons will follow the format of teacher and peer-led workshops followed by an analysis.
