Unit 1 Anatomy and Physiology - Exam Unit 2 Fitness Training – External Task Unit 3 Professional Development in the Sports Industry Unit 6 Sports Psychology Students do the above units plus the following 5: Unit 4 Sports Leadership Unit 5 Application of Fitness Testing Unit 22 Investigating Business in the Sports Industry Unit 23 Skill Acquisition Unit 27 Principles and Practices for Outdoor and Adventurous Activities This unit-based course offers a productive and fulfilling nationally recognized vocational course, aiming to give students opportunities to develop an awareness and thorough understanding of sport and the science behind it. The course can be taken as either the equivalent of 1 or 2 A levels. Students are given the opportunity to: ❖ Develop knowledge, skills, and understanding of sport’s core elements – anatomy and physiology, fitness, training and psychology* ❖ To allow education and training for employees in the sports sector. ❖ To be assessed coaching skills in a sport of their choice. ❖ To allow learners to develop a range of skills and techniques, personal skills, and attitudes essential for successful performance in working life, especially within the sporting sector.
A minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade 4 or above or equivalent. PE at GCSE Grade C and above is an advantage. 4 - C minimum grades at GCSE, including Science. A real interest in sport in all areas.
Unit 1 – Exam Based Assessment Unit 2 and 22 – Exam Based Assessment with External Task All other units are internally assessed at Pass/Merit/Distinction.
