BTEC IT is equivalent to one A level and offers you a combination of coursework and externally assessed units that will enable you to develop your IT knowledge and ability and produce a comprehensive range of transferable skills. This is the ideal course for students who have an interest in technology and want to develop up-to-date IT skills and knowledge in an applied way. We do not learn any programming languages in this course, although we do learn useful mark-up languages such as HTML and CSS and how they are used in digital marketing.
• You should have at least a grade 4 in GCSE maths. • You should have at least a grade 4 in GCSE English language. • Experience of an ICT related course is preferable but not essential.
You will be assessed in a variety of ways: • In the first year, you will complete an externally set practical database assessment and an internally assessed coursework unit. • In the second year, there will be a written exam and an internally assessed coursework unit.
