This is an assignment and examination based qualification over two years, in the similar style to the BTEC qualifications in Years 10 and 11. During this time you will study how businesses start, grow and sometimes fail. You will examine how the economy, marketing, human resources and strategy play an important role in this progression. There are two options with this course • Core option which is equivalent to one A Level. • Second option which increases to two A Level equivalents. With the second option we are able to study more units, including Event Management and Retail Business.
The minimum entry criteria is 5 GCSEs at grade 4 or above preferably including English and Maths. If English and/or Maths falls below grade 4, students will be automatically entered into a re-sit GCSE group on arrival into Sixth Form. Students must have achieved at least a merit at BTEC in the relevant subject. There are some exceptions that would need to be discussed on a case-by-case basis if you did not study the subject in Year 11.
