The course is excellent preparation for students wishing to pursue a degree or career in sports studies or physical education. This specification gives learners a clear appreciation of key issues in physical education. The practical component is worth 30% of the final A level. Students will be assessed in one activity and as a rule of thumb, anyone wishing to gain a C grade would need to be playing at a good club standard. To grade more highly students would need to be performing at a higher level. The theory component comprises three areas: • Exercise Physiology and Biomechanics • Sport Psychology • Sport and society and technology in sport The exam paper is made up of multiple choice, short answer, and extended writing.
