Designed for learners who are interested in learning about the sector alongside other fields of study, with a view to progressing to a wide range of higher education courses, not necessarily in applied science Students will look into principles of Chemistry, study the structure and function of cells in Biology and working with waves in the Physics part of the course. In the second year students will carry out a series of investigations as well as studying diseases and infections. This course is equivalent to one A level. There is an option of studying the course for one year and leaving with a BTEC National (level 3) equivalent to half an A level. Each unit is awarded points which are translated into an overall grade. (Pass, Merit, Distinction, Distinction star) at the end of the course. All students work is submitted with strict deadlines, throughout each assignment.
Students will create a portfolio of evidence and complete an external examination. You will be assessed through a mixture of exams (assessed by Edexcel) and assignments (assessed by us and moderated by Edexcel).
