The course is designed to provide knowledge, skills, and practical experience in engineering and allows you to gain a broad knowledge of mechanical and electrical disciplines. The course is assessed by a combination of examinations and written assignments. You will gain vital practical experience in machining, hand fitting, and welding in the engineering workshop. On successful completion of year 1, you may have the option to progress to year 2 where you will work to achieve the BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Engineering. The course provides learners with UCAS points to enable progression into Higher Education. Learners also get the opportunity to study Level 3 Core Maths alongside their course which offers additional UCAS points and valuable knowledge and experience in applied Maths within the engineering sector.
Five GCSEs at grades 9 to 4 including English and Maths. You should have at least a grade 6 in Maths GCSE.
