Course summary

The overall endorsement is ‘Fine Art’. According to Einstein, “creativity is intelligence having fun!” The A-level Art course is designed to merge and develop skill, creativity, and analytical aptitude as we respond to artists, processes, and themes. The course is taught by two specialist Art teachers who provide a rich variety of art and design experiences before students specialize in their personally devised investigation. Learning will happen through workshops, tutorials, one-to-one discussions, group critiques, and independent work. A LEVEL - Completed over two years. • Component 1 - Personal Investigation • Component 2 - Externally Set Assignment

Entry requirements

Five GCSES at grades 9-5, which must include grade 9-5 in GCSE English Language and Mathematics. GCSE graded 9-6 in Art (Students who have not studied Art at GCSE will be required to submit a portfolio of work for consideration)

How you'll be assessed

Unit 1: Internally set; internally marked; externally moderated. 17-month portfolio development - 60% Unit 2: Externally set; internally marked; externally moderated. Exam period February of second year - June - 40%
