Five GCSES at grades 9-5, which must include grade 9-5 in GCSE English Language and Mathematics. GCSE graded 9-6 in German.
Unit 1: Listening, reading, and translation examination. • Students will be assessed on their understanding of spoken and written German from a variety of authentic texts and listening material, as well as their ability to translate accurately from German into English. Unit 2: Written response to works and translation examination. • Students will develop a detailed understanding of the literary work studied. They will be expected to write critical responses in German relating to aspects such as form and technique, concepts, issues, and social context. Finally, students will manipulate language accurately by translating an unseen passage from English into German. Unit 3: Speaking examination • Students will demonstrate their ability to summarise information from written sources, respond orally to these and express viewpoints, justify opinions, and develop informed arguments relating to social and cultural context. Students will also speak on a chosen topic of interest they have researched and linked to German social and cultural contexts.
