Anyone with a general interest in sport and active leisure will enjoy the course. The BTEC Diploma in Sport will cover a wider range of aspects such as skill acquisition, business, practical performance, professional development and fitness training in addition to those covered in the Extended Certificate. The transferable sport skills that students will develop include leadership, teamwork, working independently, planning, time management, problem solving, and the effective use of I.C.T.
• Entry to the Sixth Form is based on meeting the standard entry requirements. These include the passing of Maths and English Language at a grade 4. • In addition to this we use a calculation called Attainment 8 to work out a score for students to indicate their suitability for each pathway. This score is generated by combining a students’ best 8 subject grades, counting English and Maths twice and including a minimum of three Ebacc subjects; Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Core & Additional Science, Computer Science, History, Geography, French, Spanish and German. For Waingels students this score will be included in any reports home. • Vocational Pathway (selecting only Vocational Courses): 40 (Average Grade 4) • A grade 4 in English Language or Literature and Maths. No previous PE background is required however they will need at least a grade 4 if the student sat GCSE PE or a Level 2 Pass for Cambridge National, their grade will be a good indicator of success on this Vocational Course. *The Sport Extended Certificate must also be selected alongside the Sport Diploma.
The external units consist of written exams.
