Anyone with a general interest in business news and current affairs will enjoy the course. BTEC Business covers aspects of business such as business structures, ethics and the law, the economy and its effects, finance, marketing and human resources, giving a broad picture of how businesses work in the real world. The transferable business skills that students will develop include teamwork, working independently, planning, time management, problem solving, and the effective use of I.C.T.
• Entry to the Sixth Form is based on meeting the standard entry requirements. These include the passing of Maths and English Language at a grade 4. • In addition to this we use a calculation called Attainment 8 to work out a score for students to indicate their suitability for each pathway. This score is generated by combining a students’ best 8 subject grades, counting English and Maths twice and including a minimum of three Ebacc subjects; Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Core & Additional Science, Computer Science, History, Geography, French, Spanish and German. For Waingels students this score will be included in any reports home. • Vocational Pathway (selecting only Vocational Courses): 40 (Average Grade 4) • A grade 4 in English Language or Literature. No previous Business Studies background is required however they will need at least a grade 4 if the student sat GCSE Business Studies, their grade will be a good indicator of success on this Vocational course.
