Course summary

Sociology is the study of human relationships and behaviour. It explains the behaviour of individuals by looking at ideas based on our membership of social groups, such as families, schools and the workplace. It is an exciting, thought-provoking subject highly relevant to contemporary life. Through doing presentations you will learn how to present ideas orally and in writing, and develop strong research and IT skills. You will also be able to apply theoretical Sociological perspectives to everyday life. By studying Sociology you will develop lots of transferable skills, including communication, teamwork, working to deadlines, making reasoned arguments and thinking creatively. Having a good understanding of human relationships can be a bonus in a range of careers. Sociology students can be found across all sectors including the Media and Arts.
