Course summary

Biology is a fundamental science that studies living organisms in their environments. It can open up a world of opportunities in both university choices and career options. If you are considering applying to University to study biology, zoology, ecology, animal science, marine biology, life sciences, medicine, environmental science, forensic science or any other subject related to the natural world, then A-level Biology is essential. Students will now receive a Practical Endorsement (reported separately) based on a portfolio of a minimum of twelve experiments completed during the two years. These will be internally assessed and externally moderated by the exam board. The specific tasks that need to be completed will be set by the exam board and will teach the students a range of skills and techniques that they will also be tested in the written exams.

Entry requirements

Five GCSEs Grade 9-5, including Maths and English. Grade 6 -6 GCSE in Combined Science and a Grade 6 on the two component papers of the science intended to study OR Grade 6 in separate Biology.
