No, you won’t be blowing things up, sorry! At least not if it all goes to plan. We do, though, do a lot of practical, more than you are used to as it is an integral part of the course. We build on most, but not all aspects of GCSE- atoms, electrons, bonding, molecules, calculations, organic chemistry, rates, equilibrium, energy, the periodic table and take those to a much higher level. You will need to be precise with your language and develop the ability to apply knowledge in unfamiliar contexts, as well as link ideas from different areas of the curriculum. What is involved? Module 1 Practical Skills Module 2 Foundations in Chemistry Module 3 Periodic Table, Energy and Rates Module 4 Basic Organic Chemistry Module 5 Physical and Inorganic Chemistry Module 6 Organic Chemistry
GCSE English 5. GCSE Maths 5. Triple Science 6/6/5 or Combined Science 6/5. At least 4 x GCSE at grade 5 or above.
All assessments are 100% exam-based, with 3 papers at the end of year 13.
