Physical Education offers the opportunity to develop knowledge and understanding of the human body and mind specifically related to sport and performing. Applied anatomy and physiology, skill acquisition, sport and society, exercise physiology, and biomechanics, sport psychology and sport and society and technology in sport.
Grade 6 or above in GCSE Physical Education. It is imperative that candidates are performing sport on a regular basis inside or outside of school. Five GCSEs Grade 9-5, including Maths and English.
Paper 1: Factors affecting participation in physical activity and sport. (Applied anatomy and physiology, skill acquisition and sport and society). Written exam: 2 hours (35% of A level). Paper 2: Factors affecting optimal performance in physical activity and sport. (Exercise physiology and biomechanics, sport psychology and sport and society and technology in sport). Written exam 2 hours (35% of A level). Non-exam Assessment: Practical performance in physical activity and sport. Students assessed as a performer or coach in the full sided version of one activity, plus written/verbal analysis of performance. (30% of A level).
