
Units studied: • Component 1: Devised Performance • Component 2: Scripted Text in Performance • Component 3: Theatre Makers in Practice A number of visits to the theatre are arranged throughout the two years of the course. There will also be outside theatre companies doing workshops within school. Students are encouraged to take part in the whole school production to develop their performance skills and support with the lower school Drama Club in order to develop their directorial skills.
Grade 5 in GCSE Drama. If GCSE Drama was not taken, entry would be by audition and evidence of relevant Drama experience outside of school.
This two-year course is comprised of three assessed units: Component 1 – develop an original performance in response to the work of a theatre practitioner, documented in an accompanying portfolio. Component 2 – perform two extracts from a play text with a focus on both group and solo or paired performances. Component 3 – end of course written examination evaluating a live theatre performance and detailing ideas for the performance and direction of two studied set texts.
