The two-year course is for students who have a serious interest in developing a wide range of performance skills in voice, acting, and movement. Over the two years of the course, you will undertake a broad range of skills-based and theory-based units which may include: Performing to an Audience: Musical Theatre Performance; Singing Techniques and Performance; Developing and Applying Physical Theatre; Acting Skills; Devising Plays; and Auditions for Actors. The Diploma is designed to be a substantive part of a 16–19 study programme for students who want a strong core in the performing arts, to continue this area of study in higher education. This is a fantastic opportunity to be able to study the performing arts. A course that allows the student to study a large practical base giving a range of skills. Students get to focus on the holistic development of the practical, interpersonal, and thinking skills required to be able to succeed in employment and higher education. The course is designed to give an appropriate selection of skills, techniques, concepts, theories, and knowledge from across the whole sector of the performing arts. Students get to apply their developing skills in realistic contexts using scenarios and realistic activities. Students will study a range of units covering the following content areas: • Solo and Group Performance skills • Developing Skills and Techniques for Live Performance • Community-based Projects Students will also be able to draw their focus into one key area of choosing the following route: • Acting • Dance • Musical Theatre This course aims to be a vibrant course full of practical work allowing students to get involved in the performing arts. The units are designed to enthuse and excite students about the performing arts and allow every member to reach their potential.
