By studying Psychology you can gain valid scientific insights into many aspects of behaviour, from the effects of evolution through to the effect of others around you. In the first year of study, we begin with a broad view of topics within psychology, for example how we interact with each other, how we develop relationships with our parents and how we are influenced by others. We study how the major approaches in psychology view the subject, how they define abnormal behaviours and mental illnesses. In the second year you will apply your evaluation skills on topics such as relationships, gender schizophrenia, eating behaviours, forensics and addiction. You will also have the opportunity to carry out some research of your own and get first-hand experience of the methods psychology uses for research.
For entry into 3 A Level courses we require 6 GCSE’s at Grade 5 or above.
