History is a powerful part of your general education in terms of skills of analysis, understanding information, literacy and communication. Your understanding of the contemporary world will increase your employability. It will also enable you to assess our present predicaments and circumstances and allow you to play a fuller part as a future citizen. In the words of the Parliamentary Council of Europe, “Historical awareness should be an essential part of the education of all young people.” A Level History will support you in many fields of employment including journalism, the law, teaching, social work, media research, museum education/curator and many more.
