Course summary

The course offers the chance to experience many different aspects of the care sector. You will discover the importance of good communication and the correct way to treat service users. You will be expected to go out into the community to carry out research with different client groups. It offers the opportunity to study the needs of young children through to older people. You will learn through a variety of different methods, namely interviewing people, putting together case studies, listening to outside speakers, and putting on presentations. The course will enable you to gain self-confidence, learn the benefits of teamwork, improve your ICT and research skills, and gain further qualifications. On completing your course you could either go into employment or go on to university. Past pupils are studying and are working as Operating department practitioners, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, mental health and Adult Nurses. Some students choose to embark on employment-based training routes and many currently train 'on the job' in nurseries, pre-schools, care agencies, and NCYPE to name a few. Last year one of our students graduated with a 2.1 in primary Education.
