Course summary

The BTEC Level 3 National Extended Certificate in Health and Social Care aims to provide an introduction to the work of healthcare professionals in supporting service users with varying needs. This course comprises coursework and examined units to ensure students develop an applied understanding of the delivery of effective care. The course will be useful if you are intending to pursue a career in the public sector, social care or healthcare; for instance, as a police officer, social worker or health visitors, practice nurse or occupational therapist. The course will also be invaluable if you wish to progress to higher education, to degrees in areas such as health and social care management, social work, youth work, teaching, midwifery or nursing.
