Course summary

Psychology is the scientific study of thought and behaviour. In this engaging course, students gain a broad grounding in aspects of theoretical psychology in addition to applying their knowledge to issues of relevance in contemporary society. They also develop their research skills by engaging in psychological research of their own design.

Entry requirements

5 A* to C GCSE grades including English and Maths and preferably a B in subject studying.

How you'll be assessed

Course assessed via a combination of formal exams/ongoing assessment. Year 12: Unit 1 examined externally (can be retaken). Unit 2 assessed via three assignments. Year 13: Unit 3 external exam/optional unit assessed via a number of assignments. Exam questions require application to scenarios, ask for combinations of short/medium-length answers/essays. Outcomes Distinction, Distinction, Merit or Pass. UCAS offers made based on projected outcome as course has parity with traditional A levels.
