You will develop a range of skills including the ability to analyse, interpret and evaluate scientific data. You will also gain skills in designing scientific investigations taking into account factors such as ensuring variables are controlled in experiment and that the data is collected is reliable. You will also gain skills in using laboratory equipment such as using light microscopes and colorimeters. By studying A-Level Biology it will open up the possibility of studying a range of degree courses at university including medicine, forensics science and biomedical science. It will also give students that opportunity to undertake biology based apprenticeships.
Minimum Grade 5 in English Language, Minimum Grade 6 in Maths and Science
At the end of the 2 year course you will be assessed by completing 3 examination papers, paper 1, paper 2 and paper 3. The combined mark for these 3 examination papers will determine your overall grade.
