
This course is about making and understanding theatre and learning about how it reflects the world around us. The course is both practical and there is a significant amount of theory and writing. It will be useful if you are thinking of all sorts of careers such as media, advertising, public relations, teaching, sales, or journalism as well as areas associated with theatre. Gaining an A Level in Theatre Studies shows employers that you are confident, able to communicate well, and cooperate in a group situation. You will explore two contrasting set plays and will write about them in a written examination. You will also see a range of live theater and analyze and evaluate the actors' skills and design techniques used. Additionally, there is a strong practical element to the course and you will perform both scripted and devised work to public audiences. This is an exciting and creative course that has strong elements of practical and theory.
5 GCSEs at Grades 4-9, including 6+ in GCSE drama and 6+ in GCSE English Language (grade 5 considered by department).
