This course is for you if you would like to keep up valuable mathematical skills but don't want to take A Level Maths. Equivalent to half an A level and studied in a single year, it can be taken alongside A levels. Studying Core Maths helps students develop their quantitative and problem-solving skills. This is valuable preparation for many degree courses, particularly in subjects such as psychology, business-related courses, sports and social sciences, and natural science courses that do not require AS/A level Mathematics. Many Universities will see this as a positive for a UCAS application and some will make better offers on the basis of a student sitting the course. The qualification is sat in just under a year – two papers in May/June at the end of any year.
- 4-5 GCSE's at grade 4 (C) or above. • Passes at grade 4 or above in English Language (not English Literature) and Mathematics • At least six GCSE passes at Grade 5 to 9 • A Grade 6 or above in the subjects the student wishes to study at Advanced level or in any prerequisite subjects
Through 2 end of course examinations each of 90 minutes duration.
