You will develop your knowledge and appreciation of different approaches to theatre pioneered by leading theatre practitioners. You will explore three set plays, classic and modern, from the perspective of actor and director, discovering the possibilities for translating each text into performance. A Level Drama and Theatre inspires students to become independent theatre makers with the skills they need to go on to higher education, whether to study a course in drama and theatre or another subject. The qualification emphasises practical creativity alongside research and theoretical understanding. This is one of the few Drama qualifications recognised by Oxbridge owing to its academic focus.
At least grade 6 in Drama and English Literature at GCSE • Passes at grade 4 or above in English Language (not English Literature) and Mathematics • At least six GCSE passes at Grade 5 to 9 • A Grade 6 or above in the subjects the student wishes to study at Advanced level or in any prerequisite subjects
Written examination, externally assessed by the awarding body, and a practical performance unit, externally moderated by the awarding body.
