The BTEC Diploma in Business develops your understanding of the requirements of business and management. You will have the opportunity to focus on specific topics such as human resources, marketing, business planning, accounting, event management and principles of management. You will apply practical skills and knowledge in preparation for further study in Higher Education or the workplace, studying a range of mandatory and optional unit content with external and internal assessments. This two year course is equivalent to two A levels with 45% external assessment 55% internal assessment.
• You should have at least a grade 4 in GCSE maths. • You should have at least a grade 4 in GCSE English language.
• Units 1 (Exploring Business); • Unit 4 (Managing a Business Event); • Unit 5 (International Business); • Unit 8 (Recruitment and Selection Process); • Unit 17 (Digital Marketing) will all be internally assessed by your subject tutor and moderated by BTEC Pearson; • Unit 2 (Developing a Marketing Campaign) and Unit 6 (Principles of Management) will be assessed by a three hour external examination completed on computer. You will be issued with the context two weeks before the examination which will be a supervised assessment period in order to carry out research; • Unit 3 (Personal and Business Finance) will be assessed by a two hour written external examination. Each unit will be graded as Pass, Merit or Distinction. This will lead to a final qualification of of two grades e.g. Distinction Distinction*. This course attracts UCAS points and is widely recognised by universities and employers.
