Course summary

Students will study the significance of dance in their own work and professional repertoire. They will focus on the art of choreography both as a soloist and in a group creating their own two to three minute dance. Students will perform in a duo or trio, developing their spacial awareness and sensitivity to other performers. Finally they will study how to look at themselves as a performer studying alignment, posture, components of fitness, technical skills and safe practice. All aspects of A Level Dance are taught through both practical and theoretical lessons.

Entry requirements

- Beyond the minimum entry criteria for Level 3 learning of five A*-C GCSE grades including English, students will also be expected to achieve a minimum B Grade in GCSE Dance. Students who achieve a C grade may be accepted on an individual basis through discussion with the Subject Leader. - All students will also need to have attained at least a grade 4 in both English (Language or Literature) and Maths.
