Component 1: Personal investigation– 7201/C • No time limit • 96 marks • 60% of A-level Component 2: Externally set assignment – 7201/X Response to an externally set assignment • Preparatory period + 15 hours of supervised time • 96 marks • 40% of A-level Both Components must address the Four Assessment Objectives. Each of these is worth up to 24 marks. Assessment Objective 1: Develop ideas through sustained and focused investigations informed by contextual and other sources, demonstrating analytical and critical understanding. Assessment Objective 2: Explore and select appropriate resources, media, materials, techniques, and processes, reviewing and refining ideas as work develops. Assessment Objective 3: Record ideas, observations, and insights relevant to intentions, reflecting critically on work and progress. Assessment Objective 4: Present a personal and meaningful response that realizes intentions and, where appropriate, makes connections between visual and other elements.
