The aims of the Drama and Theatre Studies A Level are to encourage students to: ▪ Develop their interest and enjoyment of drama and theatre both as participants and as informed members of an audience ▪ Foster an enthusiasm for and a critical appreciation of the subject ▪ Develop an understanding and an appreciation of the significance of the social, cultural and historical influences on the development of drama and theatre ▪ Experience a range of opportunities to develop a variety of dramatic and theatrical skills, enabling them to grow creatively and imaginatively in both devised and scripted work ▪ Integrate theory and practice through their understanding of critical concepts and the discriminating use of specialist terminology
Achieve a minimum of five Grade 6s (B Grades) at GCSE with a minimum of Grade 5 in English Language and Mathematics. A grade 6 in GCSE Drama and English Literature Students without Drama GCSE but stage school or Theatre experience will be considered individually.
The Drama and Theatre A Level consists of two coursework components and one externally examined paper.
