You will: • Develop in-depth knowledge and understanding of the principles of physics • Gain hands-on practical skills and data analysis skills • Appreciate how science works and its relevance beyond the laboratory • See how physics links to other sciences and how the subject underpins important technologies
Double 6 in GCSE Combined Science or a 6 in GCSE Physics and one other science. 6 in GCSE Mathematics. Students must also undertake continued mathematics study (A Level Mathematics, AS Level Mathematics, Core Mathematics or mathematics study as directed by the science faculty)
AS consists of 5 topic areas assessed through 2 written exams. Practical skills are assessed through the written exam only. A level consists of 9 topic areas assessed through 3 written exams. Where appropriate, practical skills are assessed through the written exams and form part of the A-level grade. A separate endorsement of practical skills will be taken alongside the A level. This will be teacher assessed during lessons and will be based on direct observation of a range of skills that are not assessable in written exams.
