
• Study of a variety of non-literary and digital texts in Voices in Speech and Writing: An Anthology • Study of one compulsory prose fiction ‘anchor’ text from a choice of two and one other literary text on our chosen theme, ‘Society and the Individual.’ Currently, these two texts are Othello by William Shakespeare and The Great Gatsby by F Scott Fitzgerald. • Study of one modern drama text, currently Equus by Peter Shaffer. • A coursework unit, which is internally assessed, on a free choice of topic, comprising three tasks: one piece of creative fiction and one piece of non-fiction, with an analytical commentary. A variety of teaching methods will be employed to develop your thinking, writing, and analytical skills as well as your confidence in presenting your opinions. You will be encouraged to lead as well as participate in seminar-style lessons, undertake individual projects, and work in small groups. Under staff guidance, you will be encouraged to develop your own independent learning and research skills.
