Psychology is the scientific study of the mind and behaviour. It encompasses many different areas of study such as human development, social behaviour and cognitive processes. Topics covered in the first year include how psychology developed as a science, social influence, memory, attachment, psychopathology (the study of abnormal behaviour) and research methods. Later in the course students also study biopsychology, issues and debates in psychology and other topics including schizophrenia, relationships and forensic psychology.
You must have achieved five GCSEs at grade 4 or better. At least a grade 5 in GCSE English and GCSE Maths.
Three written exams, each 2 hours. Paper 1: Introductory Topics in Psychology. Paper 2: Psychology in Context. Paper 3: Issues and Options in Psychology.
