Component 1 - Media Products, Industries and Audiences – 35% The chosen media forms for this component are newspapers, advertising and marketing, music videos, radio, and video games. You will study products from specific media industries and for specific audiences to develop your knowledge and understanding of the links between language and representation. There is a strong focus on media theories and you will develop your ability to use relevant subject-specific terminology. Set Products are: - Tide (1950s) - Paralympics (2020) - Black Panther (2018) - I, Daniel Blake - Daily Mirror - The Times - Have you heard of George’s Podcast? - Assassin’s Creed Franchise (2012) Component 2 - Media Forms and Products in Depth – 35% Here, you will study three media forms in depth: television, magazines, and blogs/websites. The primary foci are language, representation, media industries, and audiences. Products explored are: - Peaky Blinders & The Bridge - Formation, Beyonce (2016) - Kiss the Vampire (1963) - Riptide, Vance Joy (2013) - Magazines—Vogue (1965) & The Big Issue (2016) - Online Media—Zoella/Zoe Sugg & Attitude Component 3 - (non-exam assessment) – Media Production - 30% For this component, you will independently produce at least two products (of different forms) based on a brief from the exam board (EDUQAS) You can create products in the following areas: - Television - Advertising and Marketing (Music or Film) - Magazines - Web production
