Maths A Level is made up of Pure Mathematics, Mechanics and Statistics. The pure mathematics will include topics such as: algebra and functions; proof; coordinate geometry; vectors; differentiation; integration; exponentials and logarithms. The applied mathematics will include both mechanics and statistics topics such as: kinematics; forces and Newton’s laws; moments; data presentation and interpretations; probability; statistical distributions and hypothesis testing.
6 in Maths GCSE.
The course will be assessed at the end of the two years by three written papers. Paper one and two (2 hours each) will include all core elements of the course and is worth 67% of the overall grade. Paper three (2 hours) will include the applied elements of the course, worth 33% of the overall grade.
