The Edexcel course we follow offers an issues based approach to studying geography,enabling students to explore and evaluate contemporary geographical issues and questions.It gives the opportunity to develop an in•depth understanding of physical and human geography, the complexity of people and environment questions, and for students to become critical, reflective and independent learners. We will be studying the following topics: • Tectonic processes and hazards • Coastal landscapes and change • The water cycle and water Insecurity • The carbon cycle and energy security • Globallsatlon • Regenerating places • Superpowers • Global development • Health, human rights and intervention
- We will require a grade 6 or above in Geography. If you have not studied Geography at GCSE we will require a grade 6 in English. - At least eight GCSEs (including English (Language or Literature) and Mathematics at a minimum of Grade 6)
• Paper 1: Written exam on physical geography. 2 hours 15 minutes.30% of the qualification • Paper 2: Written exam on human geography. 2 hours 15 minutes.30% of the qualification • Paper 3: Written exam based on a resource booklet (synoptic assessment) 2 hours 15 minutes. 20% of the examination • Coursework: Geography investigation. Non examined assessment. 20% of qualification
