Component1: Personal Investigation. This element of the A2 course is in two parts. 1. a practical project in which candidates carry out a personal investigation based on an idea, issue, concept or theme. 2. written material which is linked to and supports their chosen focus for study. Component 2: The Externally Set Assignment The official question paper is given out during the first week in February. From a series of starting points on the paper students are expected to develop ideas / respond in depth to one of the starting points. Following a period of preparation 15 hours under exam conditions will take place after Easter. The sessions are spread over a fortnight.
- Minimum of a grade B at GCSE Art & Design is required. - At least 5 good GCSE passes, including English and Maths
Component 1 = 60% practical work with written element. Component 2 = 40% Externally Set Assignment with 15 hours under exam conditions following a period of preparation.
