This course takes a close look at business and the way it works, providing students with relevant knowledge and understanding of finance, marketing, human resources and production. The course takes as its theme the processes of decision-making in business, developing a critical understanding of organisations and their ability to meet society’s needs and wants. Students will develop an appreciation of business behaviour from a range of perspectives, studying enterprising and creative approaches to business opportunities. The course encourages students to take a more strategic view of business activity.
Grade 5 or above in GCSE Maths and English. It is not necessary to have any previous experience in Business Studies but the skills required are nevertheless wide-ranging, including statistical analysis and evaluative writing. A minimum Grade 5 is required for students who took a GCSE Business course, however, it is not compulsory for students to have studied GCSE Business Studies.
