Biology is an interesting, highly relevant subject that gives routes to careers in many growing fields, and gives a good scientific understanding of contemporary issues, the living world and the environment. Year 1 Module 1 – Development of practical skills in Biology Module 2 – Foundations in Biology Module 3 – Exchange and transport Module 4 – Biodiversity, evolution and disease Year 2 Module 5 – Communication, homeostasis and energy Module 6 – Genetics, evolution and ecosystems
Students will need to have obtained at least 5 Grade 5s or above, including English and Maths. Plus, subject specific criteria for each intended subject at A Level: Biology - at least a grade 6 at GCSE.
Biology is a fully exam-assessed course. You will be tested on your understanding of biological processes, biological diversity and a synoptic unified assessment. Practical skills are a crucial element of studying Biology, and you will complete twelve assessed practicals throughout your course. These practicals will give a “practical endorsement” to your qualification.
