Our A Level Computer Science qualification helps students understand the core academic principles of computer science. Classroom learning is transferred into creating real-world systems through the creation of an independent programming project. Our A Level will develop the student’s technical understanding and their ability to analyse and solve problems using computational thinking. In AS and A level Computer Science, students learn the principles of computation and algorithms, computer programming, machine data representation, computer systems (hardware and software), computer organisation and architecture, communications and networking, databases and the consequences of using computing.
Students must achieve 5 qualifications at Grade 4 or above to return to 6th Form at PCHS.
They will be assessed in the written papers and through the non examined assessment where appropriate. The quality of extended responses are assessed in the written papers where indicated by an asterisk.
