This course is designed to provide learners with an in-depth knowledge of the Health and social care sector. Learners on this pathway should be interested in pursuing a career in the Health Care sector. Units you will study: Human Lifespan Development (Exam), Working in Health and Social Care (Controlled Assessment), Enquiries into Current Research in Health and Social Care (controlled assessment), Meeting Individual Care and Support Needs, Principles of Safe Practice in Health and Social Care, Promoting Public Health, Work Experience in Health and Social Care and Supporting Individuals with Additional Needs. You will be awarded with an overall grade on the successful completion of all units. You will learn through formal teaching in the classroom including case studies, lectures, presentations, discussions, films, individual and group project work and debates. You will be expected to undertake private study including research, revision and homework tasks. There will be trips and visits, careers and higher education talks. You will also be required to complete a mandatory work placement which will require a DBS check.
Students must achieve 5 qualifications at Grade 4 or above to return to 6th Form at PCHS.
Learners will complete 8 units of which 6 are mandatory and 3 are externally assessed.
