At A Level. Students will also study 3 modules: 1. Philosophy of Religion: arguments for the existence of G-d; challenges to religious belief; religious experience; religious language. 2. Ethics of Religion: ethical language and thought; deontological ethics; teleological ethics; freewill and determinism. 3. A Study of Religion – Judaism: religious figures and sacred texts; religious concepts and religious life significant social and historical developments in religious thought; religious practices and religious identity. Students will need the ability to: ● Critically analyze. ● Engage in wider reading. ● Plan, structure, and produce extended pieces of writing. ● Articulate your viewpoint and be prepared to defend it when challenged. ● Analyse and evaluate research and theories. ● Listen sensitively to the ideas and opinions of others.
GCSE Religious Studies Grade 6 GCSE English Language or Literature Grade 6 and GCSE Mathematics Grade 5
At AS level candidates will sit a 1 hour 30 minute paper on each module, each worth 33.3%. Each paper is assessed by essay writing and pupils will have a choice of questions to answer. At A2 candidates will also sit a 2-hour written paper on each module where they are required to answer two open essay-style questions from a choice of four.
