This course aims to help students develop theoretical and practical skills in biology, including planning, implementing, analysis and evaluation. The course comprises six modules, covering topics such as cell biology, biological molecules, exchange, transport, biodiversity, disease, genetics, ecosystems, evolution, communications, homeostasis and energy. Biology is regarded as a facilitating subject by the UK’s top universities, and combines well with Chemistry, Psychology, Geography, Mathematics, and Further Mathematics. Higher education and careers for which Biology is needed or recommended include conservation science, ecology, environmental management, plant science, medicine, veterinary, genetics, biotechnology, biochemistry, molecular biology, pharmacology, clinical biology, physiology, sports science and anatomy.
- Grade 6 in Biology and at least a Grade 6 in another Science. Mathematics is used extensively at A level, so a Grade 6 in GCSE Mathematics is also required. - 5 passes at a minimum of Grade 5, including/as well as at least Grade 4 in English and Mathematics.
