The topics students will study include: mechanics, electricity, waves, particle physics, nuclear structure and radioactivity plus many others. During the course students will study pivotal concepts and ideas that have changed the course of human development with the Turning Points option topic. Studying physics will give students the opportunity to develop logical problem solving skills, carry out practical work, and apply your knowledge to the real world. Physics students are prized by industry and universities for the varied skills they have acquired. Most of our students progress to university, taking degrees in scientific subjects or engineering. Many study in areas of finance, business and IT.
Automatic entry onto Level 3 courses includes students achieving 4 x Grade 9-4 or equivalent at GCSE alongside a Grade 4 or above in English and/or Mathematics. Students with either English and/or Mathematics at Grade 3 or below will have individual meetings to determine the most suitable pathway within the Sixth Form. Alongside the general entry requirements to Sixth Form, students must have a grade 7 in The Separate Science or Combined Science.
